History of Stepping Stones Living Center (SSLC)
In November 1998 The Stepping Stones Living Center was started by Mr. Johnson. Together with his wife and friends began the massive task of cleaning and repairing a deserted house in Taman Seputih which presently is the home for many homeless adults and children today.
Children, single mothers and old folks are taken into this home regardless of background, race and religion. Young parents leave their children at the home as they do not have enough financial capability to raise the children. Innocent underage girls run away from home to be with their boyfriends assuming it is true love. These girls get pregnant and their boyfriends make a run with some other girls. Unable to go back to the parents, the girls become homeless. Without proper education and assistance (guidance) from anyone, some of these girls seek help form this home.
A team has been formed from various backgrounds to bring awareness of Stepping Stones to make a change. We have successfully managed to get individual sponsors to support the home. This webpage displays information to reach out to the people about Stepping Stones Homes.
The home has five premises in Taman Seputih;
1. One hostel for girls
2. Two hostels for boys
3. One home for pre-school students
4. One home for old folks

Our main objective to raise funds and sponsors for this home for three main reasons;
Food supplies
Daily diet of sardine, eggs, nuggets and vegetable is needed. (An estimation of 7 cartons of eggs are consumed for one meal EVERYDAY)A day an estimation of seven cartons of eggs used for a meal. Ensuring there is sufficient food supply for 100 over people in Stepping Stones Homes is part of the program to collect funds.
Education Fund
The “Year End Need” is a program organized annually to collect funds for school basic needs. A sponsor can select a student and donate items like school bag, school shoe (Bata shoes), school uniform, socks and stationeries.
*Why Specifically Bata Shoes?
As compared to other brands, Bata shoe has better quality.
Home Maintenance
The monthly operational cost for Stepping Stones Homes costs around MYR 15,000.00. Three gas tanks, usually MYR 22.00 per tank, are consumed every month for cooking (depending on the gas price). Mattresses and pillows have to be changed every 6 months as it becomes worn out.
For the betterment of the children in the home in aspect of personality and attitude, we are looking for sponsor to organize youth trainings for the children. Looking at the world today, building confidence and embracing self motivation for the children is important. The combination of education and strong self-confidence, children from the home will become successful leaders in the future.
We are focusing to collect funds and sponsorships for the homes. There are two categories of sponsors;
1. Corporate Sponsor
2. Individual Sponsor
Donation and sponsors could be in terms of monetary or items;
1. Daily food products;
For example, sardine, nuggets, eggs, milk, Milo, condensed milk, salt, sugar, cooking oil and etc.
2. New clothes for the children;
Personalized donation for children clothes can be done during the “Year End Need” program.
3. Family day in the Stepping Stones Homes.
Sponsoring a lunch at the home where sponsors will meet the children and have interactive sessions.
4. Basic toiletries
Soaps, shampoos, soap powder, tooth brush & tooth paste, towels, detergents, mops, brooms.
